Healthy Eating Policy
Smythe encourages our students to have good nutritional habits and participate in healthy activities.
As part of this effort, every student gets one fresh fruit or vegetable snack 4 days per week (TK-6) and 100 minutes of PE per week (Grades 1-6).
Here is the Smythe Healthy Eating Policy:
Snacks at School:
- We encourage students to bring raw fruits and vegetables or other healthy snacks.
- Any snack students bring must be limited to one, individual serving size. Snacks that we give students will be limited to one, individual serving size.
- If students bring chips or sugary snacks/candy from home they may only eat them during lunch, and they must be one serving size.
- If we see students eating chips or sugary snacks/candy outside of lunch time, the snack MAY be confiscated.
Sharing Food:
- Students may not share snacks/food at any time.
Lunch Policy:
- If students receive a lunch from the cafeteria they may only bring one, individual serving size snack into the cafeteria.
- Students do not need to take a milk.
- When you are looking for healthy foods to bring for lunch or for classroom celebrations we encourage you ‘to consider the following:
- Fruits, Vegetables, Cheese sticks, Pretzels, Crackers, Water
