Device Policy
This is the Student Device Use Policy for the Smythe elementary campus. Your child’s teacher has reviewed this in class. Please read and review this policy with your child.

- Student use of devices is not allowed on campus, during school hours or during MASTERS.
- “On campus” means, inside the exterior school gates.
- “Device” refers to any electronic device: phone, tablet, smart watch, game, etc.
- Students are allowed to keep their phone/device in their backpacks.
- Devices must be powered off while students are on campus, during school hours and during MASTERS.
- If a device rings/sounds, the staff member will ask one time that it be turned off. If the device rings/sounds a second time the staff member will say, “Please give me your device.” The student must give the phone/device to the staff member.
- If a student is using or has their device out during school hours or during MASTERS, the staff member will say, “Please give me your device.” The student must give the phone/device to the staff member.
- The staff member who confiscates the device will notify the homeroom teacher. The homeroom teacher will contact parents, then bring the device to the office.
- Parents will need to pick up the device in person, from the office.
- If this becomes a repeated problem, Smythe will treat it as a disciplinary issue and address it on a case-by-case basis.

- El uso de dispositivos de los estudiantes no está permitido en la escuela, durante el horario escolar o durante MASTERS.

- Si el dispositivo suena, el personal pedirá una sola vez que sea apagado. Si el dispositivo sonara una segunda ocasión el miembro del personal pedirá: “por favor, dame tu dispositivo”. El estudiante deberá dar el teléfono/dispositivo al personal.
- Si un estudiante está usando o tiene su dispositivo fuera de la mochila durante la escuela o MASTERS, el personal dirá: “por favor, dame tu dispositivo”. El estudiante deberá dar el teléfono/dispositivo al miembro del personal.
- El miembro del personal que confisca el dispositivo notificará al maestro del estudiante. El maestro se pondrá en contacto con los padres, y llevará el dispositivo a la oficina.
- Los padres necesitarán recoger el dispositivo en persona, en la oficina.
- Si esto llegara a ser un problema repetido, Smythe lo tratara como una cuestión de disciplina y lo abordara caso por caso.
